The new book is packaged and sent off to New York!
Is it finished? No. Lots of work still to do.
Is the story complete? Probably so. All the elements are there and set down in a reasonable ordering.
So why the vast quiet of the past two weeks?
The ending kept slipping farther away. With a multi-layered story such as I like to write, the writer ends up with LOTS of threads to tie off - or deliberately NOT tie off. I had three main pieces in mind for the ending.
1. A big BAD
2. A big GOOD, involving self-realization one of the main characters
3. A big, dark REVELATION to carry us into the next story
I accomplished them all, but it will take another post to explain why that took six chapters and twenty days!
Right now I want to celebrate and get the cobwebs out of house and head.
More soon!

Congrats!
I kept checking for updates, but you HAD said that your book was due this month so I figured you were busy writing away. Glad to hear you got it done! Can't wait to hear more about it.
Yes, congrats! Go relax now. You've earned it.
Some would not call working on income tax, cleaning my house, or pulling down some horribly overdue wallpaper relaxing, but I have done all those things since finishing the book. So, Deb, I have done exactly what you recommend, as well as visited my mom and spent some quality time with the ESS (ever-supportive spouse.)
And Lianne, I will definitely tell more about the agonies of ending.
No not relaxing, but cleansing. I'm looking forward to Spring Break in two weeks to do the same things. . . except the taxes. I let others do that.
