Release Day!

So the day has come. The Spirit Lens is released to the world. (Well, OK, some bookstores and online sellers have leaked it early. Lest you have mistaken me, I'm not JK Rowling, whose publisher enforces strict on sale dates so they know how many million copies a minute she sells.)

So how does it feel?

Scary. Exciting. A relief. A deep and lasting satisfaction, especially for a person who never in the world imagined she could produce a whole book, much less eleven of them. I wrote for a number of years just for myself, and that was fine. But knowing that other people will now meet the characters who live in my head is just excellent. Portier, Ilario, and Dante are out there.

For those of you who have followed the crumbs these past two years, thanks! It has been fun to share the development of the story with you. I hope to get back on track with the second novel of the Collegia Magica.

For those who have read and critiqued - you know who you are - and encouraged and spread the word, thanks so much!

Excellent! I have been waiting for this for a long time. I'm headed to the bookstore this afternoon! They better have it in stock.

I pre-ordered a while ago (should have patronized local bookstore, I know, but opted for the easy way out) and hope to get a nice post-Christmas package in the mail soon. Congratulations!

I like hearing that e-versions AND print versions are going out. All are good.

I'm headed to Borders tonight but I may wait for your Boulder Bookstore appearance, even though I don't really want to wait to read it! Congrats!

Congratulations on your new book!
I just bought an electronic version three minutes ago for my Sony --though waiting for a hard copy will be painful. Hopefully my roommate will forgive me for forcing her to sleep with the lights on again!

Enjoy - and don't read too fast. Book 2 is not done yet!!

Congratulations! I pre-ordered on Amazon.co.uk, and kept getting messages about the shipment being delayed until late Jan, then brought forward a week, and then yesterday it shipped. Woot!

Not sure I'll read it right away, though, because I've taken lately to reading a series only once all the books in it are out. I'm SOOOO glad I did that with LIGHTHOUSE; I would've died a thousand deaths if I couldn't have just walked upstairs to get the second book off the shelf!

Hi Carol, I can't believe Spirit Lens is finally here, I'm sure it's going to be awesome! But the wait over the next few days until I can make a turn at my local bookstore is just killing me!

Hi Carol,
I wasn't fortunate to catch your first books, but I'm interested to see what you have come up with. Dante was the name my son chose as his alter-ego when he was alive, so I am intrigued to meet this character. Any chance of an ARC for a review on the Southern Colorado Literature Examiner? Note: Please send any response to angelslight34@hotmail.com. My husband registered a Google account before I did, so when I registered it, it attached me to his e-mail and I can't figure out how to change it. Thanks. Kaye Lynne Booth

I'm on page 94. Everywhere I go, the book comes with me. At every opportunity, I am stealing a few minutes just to read the next two or three pages. I could write a thousand words about all the things that I am enjoying about this book.

The book is wonderful and I am so happy that the months of anticipation have been worth it.

I just picked up my copy today. I've been sneaking bits and pages between real world things. So far I love it. I'm a little worried it's too short, but I'm sure it'll be worth reading again a time or two.

I remember reading a post you wrote some time back about book covers and I wanted to comment about this book's cover. It makes it look like a novelization of a made-for-tv movie, which is not at all a kind of book I would pick up randomly off the bookshelf. But that's OK, I guess. It's different, it'll hook a whole different group of people on Carol Berg than any previous cover.

I just bought a copy, but now have to wait for shipping. I got it through the Reader's Cove, so I'll get an autographed one. :)

I came so close to buying one at border's, but they were sold out. I just had a neutral dr's appt- one of those come back in 2 weeks and everything is either fine or very, very bad, but no clue which for 2 weeks. So, I was hoping to distract myself with a new book. And Berg books are usually dangerous because they are too absorbing- ignore my responsibilities. Which makes perfect for right now. So, now, trying to focus on how exciting it will be to get a new book in the mail, autographed by my favorite writer. :)

Tameson,

I'm going over to Reader's Cove to sign your book tomorrow! Best wishes with your med results. I definitely sympathize. Had one of those kind of appointments last year with some not-so-good results, but it is all good now.
